Outreach Friday Update

Posted by: admin

Salaam All,

With regards to Outreach:

After the monthly cirlce and the roles fulfilled we have decided to have a meeting for the new team so we could meet each other and let them know how ULU Isoc works, monthly circles, team meetings, friday updates etc and the aims of outreach.

We have tried calling school but have had no success as of yet for a feb school but a March School seems promising as a new school have decided they want us on. We are waiting for further details from them iA so please do make dua.

Also, are the srs still going to have the little photoshop training day with the help of Sr Hanna? I think this is very much needed and we should not delay, as Im sure some of us srs need this asap. So please let me know. JZka

Some facts and figures to chew over...

"In 2004, men of Bangladeshi and black Caribbean ethnicity were the least likely to have a degree (11% for each group).

Among women, Bangladeshi and Pakistanis were the least likely to have a degree (5% and 10% respectively).

The groups most likely to have a degree were Chinese (31%), Indian (25%), and white Irish (24%), compared with 17% of white British people.

Bangladeshis and Pakistanis were the most likely to be unqualified. Five in ten (49%) Bangladeshi women and four in ten (40%) Bangladeshi men had no qualifications. Among Pakistanis, 35% of women and 29% of men had no qualifications."

Those who can - Outreach!

Ilm or knowledge - is one of those treasured gifts from Allah. But unfortunately many of us do not attempt to share this gift with our fellow younger brothers and sisters. Outreach is all about changing the mindset of the Muslim students from taking to giving.

If you want to help Muslim students get into higher education, if you want to provide to them a role model that manages to balance his faith and his career and if you want to give them advice that could literally change their lives - then you want to go to the forum and tell the outreach team to sign you up.
